The Castle Tower rises above the town as a symbol connecting the past with the future.

In 1358 had Czech King Charles IV built the Castle Tower as his little hunting castle.. Unfortunately, as was usual in the Middle Ages, in 1604 the castle fell victim to a massive fire and burned down completely. Since then, it has never been possible to restore the original state of the ruins.
However, only four years after this disaster, the remains were transformed into a baroque town hall, from which trumpeters announced the arrival of important guests of the town.
From 2022, the Castle Tower is again open to visitors.
Here you will find the exhibition Great Spa Towns of Europe commemorating another important milestone of Karlovy Vary – the inclusion of the town along with ten other European towns on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.
